Our Journey
From Vision to Reality
SUNEL’s journey began in 2006 in Greece with a bold vision: to make renewable energy a reality. What started as a promising idea quickly grew into a mission to empower communities and transform energy systems.
By 2010, SUNEL had already made a mark, completing Greece’s first and largest PV project using advanced 2-axis trackers. This groundbreaking achievement, alongside over 60 projects completed by 2012, firmly established SUNEL as a trusted leader in solar energy.
Expanding Globally
From 2013 to 2015, SUNEL took its expertise to new horizons, entering the UK, Turkey, and France. This global expansion laid the foundation for bigger ambitions.
Between 2016 and 2019, we continued to break new ground, entering the Middle East (UAE) and Ukraine. These years were defined by innovation and a relentless drive to explore opportunities in diverse regions.
Leading the Way
In 2020, we proudly delivered the largest PV project in Cyprus to date, a testament to our ability to achieve ambitious goals. That same year, we returned to our roots by establishing Group Headquarters in Greece, reaffirming our leadership in the renewable energy industry.
The years 2022 to 2024 were transformative. In 2024, our joint venture with Ameresco, Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA, completed Greece’s first solar PV project under a private Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) – the 100-MW Delfini project. We also began constructing Lightsource BP’s 560-MW Enipeas project, one of Europe’s largest solar sites. Alongside these milestones, we expanded into Chile, Denmark, and Italy, reaching 1.5 GW of projects under execution.
A Bright Future
SUNEL’s story is just beginning. With approximately 2 GW of contracted projects across Europe, we are poised to redefine renewable energy on a global scale.
As we move forward, our unwavering dedication to innovation, sustainability, and empowering communities will drive us to redefine possibilities – leaving a lasting impact on the world and creating a legacy of clean energy for generations to come.
