A Vision for Sustainability
Located in the thriving community of Palaiometocho, Cyprus, the Palaiometocho Solar Project represents one of SUNEL Group’s early contributions to the country’s renewable energy landscape. With a capacity of 1.5 MW, this project was designed to harness Cyprus’s abundant solar resources to generate clean, reliable energy. Equipped with advanced Qcells solar panels, ABB inverters, and a robust Alumil mounting system, the project reflects SUNEL Group’s commitment to laying the foundation for a sustainable energy future.
Overcoming Challenges with Innovation and Teamwork
As one of SUNEL Group’s earlier projects in Cyprus, the Palaiometocho Solar Project posed unique challenges, including adapting to the evolving renewable energy landscape and optimizing system design for long-term efficiency. The project employed a fixed tilt structure, which was chosen for its robustness and ability to provide stable energy output with minimal maintenance. This design was key to maximizing the performance of the Qcells panels under Cyprus’s diverse weather conditions.
The integration of Qcells panels and ABB inverters required a careful balance of technical expertise and innovative engineering to ensure the system delivered consistent energy output. The Alumil mounting system further reinforced the installation’s durability, ensuring structural integrity over the project’s lifespan.
The SUNEL team collaborated closely across all phases of the project, overcoming challenges with precision and delivering a successful installation within the 2017 construction timeline. The project stands as a testament to SUNEL’s ability to deliver impactful renewable energy solutions, even in the early stages of its journey in Cyprus.
The Human Impact
Behind the Palaiometocho Solar Project is a dedicated team of 35 engineers, technicians, and local collaborators who worked tirelessly to bring this project to life. Their combined efforts contributed to the creation of clean energy while fostering local economic growth through job creation and skill development.
In addition to generating renewable energy, the project has inspired greater awareness of sustainability within the community. Its success demonstrates the potential for solar energy to play a critical role in Cyprus’s energy transition.
Powering the Future
With a capacity of 1.5 MW, the Palaiometocho Solar Project is making a meaningful contribution to reducing carbon emissions and advancing renewable energy adoption in Cyprus. As one of SUNEL Group’s early milestones in the country, this project has set the stage for the company’s continued growth and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
