One of the largest solar power projects in Europe, the Enipeas solar PV project is a landmark initiative in Greece’s renewable energy transition. Developed by Lightsource bp and constructed by Ameresco Sunel Energy SA, this 560 MWp solar project represents a major step towards Greece’s energy independence, decarbonization goals, and economic resilience.
The Enipeas project is divided into two clusters:
- Skopia Cluster (Southern) – 400 MWp
- Kalithea Cluster (Northern) – 160 MWp
Upon completion, Enipeas will generate 0.90 TWh of electricity annually, supplying power to approximately 225,000 households and reducing CO₂ emissions by 379,000 tonnes per year.
Beyond clean energy generation, the project is making a meaningful impact on local communities. Ameresco Sunel Energy SA has prioritized local hiring and economic stimulation, securing contracts with local contractors, service providers, and suppliers. The project has already engaged civil contractors, community liaison officers, security personnel, environmental subcontractors, and local material suppliers. Additionally, accommodations have been rented in Skopia Village for project personnel, and two tractors have been donated to the communities of Skopia and Kalithea. Further employment opportunities will be created as the project progresses, supporting both local jobs and infrastructure development.
