SUNEL Group Named Official Sponsor of the 2025 Basketball Champions League Final Four – Strategic Collaboration Plan with BCL for Sustainable Sports Infrastructure

Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA Announces 466 MWp Solar Projects in Romania

SUNEL Group, an internationally recognized EPC contractor for large-scale photovoltaic parks, has officially announced its sponsorship of the 2025 Basketball Champions League (BCL) Final Four, assuming the role of Official Sponsor.

This marks the first time a company has become the main sponsor of a BCL Final Four, highlighting a historic milestone for both SUNEL and the tournament itself.

The announcement was made during an official press conference held on Friday, April 25, at the Faidon Konstantoudakis Press Room of SUNEL Arena, in the presence of Mr. Patrick Komninos, CEO of the Basketball Champions League, Mr. Konstantinos Zygouras, CEO of SUNEL Group, and Mr. Makis Aggelopoulos, major shareholder of AEK Betsson BC.

This year’s Final Four will be hosted at SUNEL Arena, home of AEK, which has carried the SUNEL name since September 2024 as part of a venue naming rights sponsorship agreement. Participating teams include AEK Betsson BC, Unicaja Malaga, Lenovo Tenerife, and Galatasaray.

We don’t view sponsorship as a standalone action, but as part of a broader mission — to unite sports with sustainability and support initiatives that leave a positive impact on society. For us, basketball embodies values such as teamwork, respect, and equal access — values that also guide our daily operations,” stated Konstantinos Zygouras, CEO of SUNEL Group.

SUNEL Arena has quickly become a key point of reference for sport and culture in Greece. Within just a few months of the naming partnership with AEK, the arena has evolved into a multi-purpose destination for sports, cultural events, music performances, and corporate gatherings. Hosting the 2025 Final Four further strengthens its international character, attracting fans from Spain, Turkey, and of course Greece, and establishing SUNEL Arena as a European destination of reference.

As part of the event, SUNEL also announced its intention to pursue a strategic collaboration with BCL, focused on promoting sustainability in global sports infrastructure. SUNEL has already submitted a comprehensive energy upgrade plan for SUNEL Arena, which includes the installation of photovoltaic systems, energy storage solutions, and other energy efficiency technologies.

Through this collaboration, SUNEL aims to extend its expertise to sports facilities worldwide, contributing to the development of greener, more modern, and operationally advanced stadiums.

We believe the future of sport cannot exist without sustainability. Our strategic alliance with BCL marks the beginning of an international vision for infrastructure that not only meets the needs of today but also addresses the responsibilities of tomorrow,” added Konstantinos Zygouras.

Finally, it is worth noting that SUNEL is currently in advanced discussions with leading companies in the environmental technology and energy sectors to form the Green Alliance.” Announcements related to this initiative will follow in the coming period and will outline the company’s broader strategy to promote a more sustainable future in sports — while strengthening the growing sponsorship ecosystem surrounding SUNEL Arena and its international initiatives.
